Over the years, Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) has been incredibly fortunate to have ongoing partnerships with local Kappa Delta chapters. One of the national sorority’s philanthropic efforts is focused on child abuse prevention, and a significant part of their fundraising efforts take place each spring when Kappa Delta chapters host a “Shamrock” event. Shamrock events are opportunities designed to bring the community together in a large group activity, such as a 5k race. PCANC is privileged to be the recipient of many of these Shamrock events over the years.
Sadly, COVID-19 forced many Kappa Deltas chapters in North Carolina to cancel their Shamrock events this year. Although much hard work and planning went into these cancelled events, the Kappa Deltas still managed to turn their disappointment into an opportunity to increase awareness and make prevention a priority.
Deciding we could all use a win, PCANC and the Kappa Deltas of Wake Forest and Elon issued a “Lucky 7 Challenge” to see which chapter could bring the most NEW followers to our social media platforms in seven days. Thanks to the creativity and enthusiasm of our Kappa Delta partners, PCANC gained 1,000 new followers on our social media platforms in just one week!
To celebrate their success, a dedicated PCANC board member wants to add a lucky $70 to every gift made on #GivingTuesdayNow – May 5th! With the ChildTrust match going on right now, that means gifts will be doubled and increased by $70! More impact and more prevention in NC during this stressful time.
Thank you, Wake Forest and Elon Kappa Deltas! Your amazing efforts are an inspiration and a good reminder that we all play a role in preventing child abuse and neglect in North Carolina!
