Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina welcomes Dan Baum to its board of directors

Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) welcomes Dan Baum of Durham to its 2017/2018 statewide board of directors. Baum joins a team of 15 volunteer leaders dedicated to ensuring all North Carolina children thrive in safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments.

“Dan brings with him a passion to help build stable, nurturing environments where children have positive experiences and grow up safe and supported,” said Sharon Hirsch, PCANC President and CEO. “His experience working to ensure child well-being across the nation will support our efforts to make wise investments in programs built on evidence to prevent child abuse and neglect before they occur.”

“It’s hard to think of something more important, or with more of a lasting impact, than creating safe and positive childhoods for all kids,” Baum said.

Baum is the Chief Strategy Officer of The Redwoods Group and the Executive Director of The Redwoods Group Foundation. He received both a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration in Social Entrepreneurship from Duke University.

Baum has served as a volunteer in the following areas: he led Habitat for Humanity Global Village trips to Cameroon (2011) and Zambia (2012), facilitated a diversity retreat for the Sustained Dialogue Institute (2014), served on the board of Friend Factor (2014/2015). Baum is also currently a part of the safety committee for Student U. He lives in Durham.

Baum will serve a three-year term on the PCANC board.
