Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) announced it is a co-recipient of a $187,831 grant from the John Rex Endowment. The grant supports PCANC and SAFEchild in building cross-sector collaboration to develop a child abuse prevention plan in Wake County.
This upstream investment will identify strategies that can be used throughout the community in government, philanthropy, business, and nonprofit organizations. The child abuse prevention plan will be based on the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework and are built by community members across all sectors.
With the support of the John Rex Endowment, PCANC will provide guidance, expertise and technical assistance in building a child abuse prevention plan.
“At Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina we know that investing upstream to strengthen families means collaboration across all sectors to meet specific community needs,” Sharon Hirsch, PCANC president and CEO. “The best way to strengthen Wake County families so children can thrive is by laying out a plan to increase the Protective Factors.”
This child abuse prevention plan will identify the strengths of the community, set goals for improvement, and will act as a true road map to prevention.
“We’re so thankful to the John Rex Endowment for investing upstream in prevention,” said Hirsch. “We are excited to strengthen Wake County’s children and families through cross-sector collaboration with SAFEchild’s partnership.”
