Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment Web-Based Training
Course Description
The Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment Training is designed for professionals and volunteers working with children and families. The 2-hour course is designed for users to complete at their own pace and can be completed in one sitting or over a period of time.
Course Fee
This course is available to North Carolina citizens at no charge through support from the North Carolina Division of Social Services and the generosity of our supporters.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this course users will understand:
- The signs and symptoms of child maltreatment
- North Carolina mandatory reporting laws
- The legal definitions of abuse, neglect and dependency
- How and where to make a referral of suspected child maltreatment
- Barriers to reporting and some strategies for overcoming them
- Where to find additional resources

- Users may find it helpful to download and print a copy of the PowerPoint to take notes throughout this course. You may access a copy of the Power Point by clicking on the attachment tab at the top of the course browser and clicking on the “PowerPoint Handout” link.

After completing this course, all participants with a post-test score of 80% or higher will have an opportunity to print a Certificate of Completion.
