Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina's Prevention Network
We all have a role to play in supporting families and protecting children. We can help make families stronger by:
- Encouraging all agencies serving and supporting families – from pediatricians to childcare centers to schools - to provide parents with support and teach them skills so they can meet the challenges of parenting.
- Focusing on pregnancy, the birth of a child and the early years of parenting as an opportunity to promote strong parent-child relationships, establish attachment, and nurture a parent’s sense of empathy and connection.
- Offering more intensive support and services to higher risk families early on, so they can overcome challenges such as domestic violence, substance abuse or depression and are able to provide safe, nurturing homes for their children.
- Working together to increase collaborative efforts to protect children and support families.
